Hoarseness, pain, a change in your voice or vocal range - all are symptoms of voice problems. But "even if a voice is not currently experiencing problems, an early diagnosis of a potential problem can mean the chances of reversal are great," says Dr. Reena Gupta of the Osborne Head & Neck Institute (OHNI), Voice & Speech Division, at Cedars Sinai Medical Towers in Los Angeles.
The Institute has just been announced as the premier sponsor of VOICE 2010 - the huge international voice-over conference coming to the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, June 2-5.
Dr. Gupta and colleague Dr. Ryan Osborne will be on hand at a booth in the VOICE 2010 exhibit hall, featuring state-of-the-art equipment designed specifically for voice analysis.
"You'll even be able to see vocal folds and how they function, on a large screen," say conference co-producers James Alburger and Penny Abshire.
Dr. Gupta is also a panelist at the Thursday afternoon session, "When All Is Said ...."
OHNI & VOICE ACTORS
The Institute is the only Voice Center dedicated exclusively to the care of the professional voice user, helping voice actors, actors, professional speakers and others who depend on a healthy voice to perform their job.
"If you are experiencing problems with your voice, you would see a voice doctor for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment," explain the VOICE 2010 producers. "You may also see a voice doctor as a preventative to future vocal disorders - kind of like a physical for your voice."
CASE HISTORY
OHNI's help with veteran LA voice actor Travis (pictured) with Voice Process Granuloma - a benign growth usually found at the back of the vocal fold - is documented in audio clips that note the progression of the healing process, under Dr. Gupta's care.
