Voice-Overs In The 'Big Easy' ... Bettye Zoller
Presents New Orleans Workshop June 26-27
May 31, 2010

Actors in the ‘Big Easy’ have invited award-winning voice coach and voice-over professional Bettye Zoller to teach a special voice-over seminar in their city on Saturday and Sunday, June 26-27.

Covering a wide range of voice-over techniques, business and marketing, it's the first-ever workshop she's presented in New Orleans.

Yet enrollment for this limited space event has a quickly-approaching deadline: June 10.

The two-day workshop takes place in the brand new AudioWorks recording studio in New Orleans, and will feature "lots of mic time" for everyone, says Zoller.

“We have kept the price down for our New Orleans’ actors because many still are recovering from Katrina or the economic downturn," Zoller adds. "This price is very reasonable compared to many other events (including mine in other cities) and we’re happy to offer it.”

Tuition is $375 for the two days of instruction, and attendees can save a place with a $175 deposit by credit card (at www.voicesvoices.com) or check (call 214-638-TALK for details). The balance of $200 would be due on or before June 23.

Zoller also offers her Audie Award-winning CD, Commercial Speak (reg. $38.50) free to persons who mention VoiceOverXtra when registering for the workshop.

GUEST INSTRUCTIORS

Guest instructors will include noted voice speech coach and voice-over professional Kristin Samuelson, who will teach a segment both days on voice speech development and improvement.

A top agent will also speak to the class, Zoller notes. And among visiting working voice-over professionals, Michael Kelly of Dallas will speak about the voice-over demo CD creation and his experiences.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Workshop topics will include:
  • Home studio computer-based recording hardware and software.
  • Voice speech improvement and identification of your voice type/niche.
  • Audiobook narration and how to get hired by publishing houses.
  • Telephone messaging and how to obtain those jobs.
  • Generating self-publicity and promoting yourself to those who hire voices in your area.
  • Audition tips/techniques for auditioning and pricing jobs from online pay-to-play websites.
  • Signing and working with voice-over agents in multiple city locations. Agents are the sources of the big-money nationals and residual jobs.
  • Your voice over CD demo(s) and what producers/agents want today.
  • Copy reading practice in the recording studio.
  • Working outside of the U.S. where American English unaccented voices are wanted today.
  • Websites to visit and websites on which to advertise yourself.
  • Social media tips.
Zoller also has a few openings for private consultation on Friday, June 25, at a discounted price of $85.

What a FABULOUS idea. What better excuse to participate in another one of your information-packed sessions than to add a (tax deductable—probably) jaunt to one of my favorite cities in the world to learn more from one my favorite mentors!

Guys, you better take an extra suitcase along for all you’re going to learn at this one. Bettye AND benyas on The Delta—the mind boggles. You know that I will move earth and sky to be up front if at all humanly possible. Have I got some choice restaurant choices for you!
